The Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League (GOJHL) Junior A Transition Team (a group of six GOJHL member operators selected by the GOJHL league membership group at a league meeting on March 22, 2014 and the League Chairman), are pleased to announce that the GOJHL and ALL of its’ 27 member teams have filed for reclassification as a Junior A league with the OHA for the 2014-2015 season. A historic unanimous vote at a meeting held in Woodstock, Ontario, Saturday March 22, 2014 empowered the newly selected GOJHL Junior A Transition Team to make plans to file for reclassification as Junior A franchises for the 2014/2015 season. This long overdue decision to file with the OHA as a Junior A classification under the OHA umbrella was consummated Friday March 28th, 2014 in Cambridge, Ontario when Transition Team members hand delivered documents to the OHA office.

The Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League (GOJHL) is a Canadian junior ice hockey league based in Southern Ontario, Canada. The league is sanctioned by the Ontario Hockey Association, Ontario Hockey Federation, and Hockey Canada. The league was created in 2007 through the merging of the Western Ontario Hockey League, Mid-Western Junior Hockey League, and Golden Horseshoe Junior Hockey League. The twenty-seven teams of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League come from Southwestern Ontario, the Golden Horseshoe, and include one team from upstate New York.

As of July 2013, the TheHockeyWriters.com lists the GOJHL as the 8th best developmental league, professional or amateur, in North America. The GOJHL was the only Junior B league to make their list.‎

At the invitation of the OHA, members of the GOJHL Junior A Transition Team, met at the OHA office in Cambridge Ontario, on Saturday April 5, 2014, with OHA Chairman Leo Lostracco, as well as other members of the OHA Board and Mr. Scott Farley, President and CEO of the OHA, to discuss the application made on behalf of the GOJHL.
