You Make the Call 6 – goaltender interference

Sarnia Legionnaire Riley Babkirk tied the game at 2-2 at 17:26 of the third period against the visiting Strathroy Rockets. Strathroy Rockets’ play-by-play commentator Chris Soares of 105.7 myFM felt that goaltender interference could have been called on Babkirk as he made contact with Rocket goaltender Tynan Lauziere. You make the call.

    Contact was made, no goal!

Forgot to add – Strathroy never even attempted to argue the goal and neither did Strathroy goalie. I think the radio fellow was just showing his home-town pride (which is unusual for him because he is usually so even-handed).

I was sitting right behind the Rockets goal and had a clear view of the play. Babkirk never touched the goalie. The ref was completely correct not to call goalie interference and to let the goal stand.
