WJB ALUMNI HIRED BY STANLEY CUP CHAMPS

AUBRY HIRED – The Windsor Star

Windsor’s Peter Aubry is joining the Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks.

The Lake Superior State assistant coach was hired to be a goaltending coach in Chicago’s organization.  Aubry is expected to be the primary goalie coach for the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs and will also spend time developing the organization’s netminders playing in the ECHL and scouting for the NHL Draft.

“I am extremely excited and grateful for the opportunity with the Chicago Blackhawks,” the 38-year-old Aubry said.

Prior to joining Lake Superior State, Aubry spent three seasons as an assistant coach at his alma mater Mercyhurst. He spent nine seasons playing professionally, including stops in the American Hockey League, ECHL and three other European ice hockey leagues.

Before joining the Mercyhurst coaching staff, he was a goaltenders coach in Europe and a training camp evaluator for two United States Hockey League programs. He has been head instructor at the Shane Clifford Goalie School in Pittsburgh since 2003.
