FORMER CANUCK HOLLOWELL COMMITS TO HOUNDS

Niagara Falls Canuck defenseman Mac Hollowell has signed with the OHL Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.  The diminutive 5′ 9″ rearguard defied the odds with a solid season last year with the Canucks and an impressive camp with the Greyhounds.  Mac scored 8 times and added 29 assists for 37 points in 47 games along with 40 PIM with the Canucks last season.  The Niagara Falls native added 2 assists in 4 playoff games.  As a callup last season with the Greyhounds Mac scored twice and added 4 assists for 6 points in 11 OHL contests along with 4 PIM.  The Greyhounds are looking forward to Mac’s puckhandling abilities and his offensive flair.  The following press release is from the OHL Network.  Photo credit: Dan Hickling.

Mac Hollowell commits to Greyhounds

Soo Greyhounds General Manager Kyle Raftis is pleased to announce today the commitment from 2014 draft pick MAC HOLLOWELL.

The Niagara Falls, ON product was the Greyhounds 12th Round Selection in this past April’s OHL Priority Selection.

“We are really excited to have Mac join our Program.  He has made huge strides from his minor midget year to now.  Throughout training camp Mac has really shown through his skating and hockey IQ that he will be an important part of our team’s future” stated Raftis.

The 5.08 161-lb defenseman played one season ago with the Niagara Rivermen Minor Midget hockey club.

In 38 games played he tallied 8 goals and 19 assists (27 points) and was among the league leaders in defenseman scoring in the SCTA.

“I’m extremely excited to join such a great organization like the Greyhounds and I am very excited to see where my future holds with them” said Hollowell.
