On Tuesday, October 6, 2015 Ben Hughes of the Ancaster Avalanche set a new GOJHL record for fastest 2 shorthanded goals scored by one player.
The goals came in a span of 1:48 vs the Pelham Panthers.
It beats the old record set on October 14, 2014 when Leamington Flyers player Mitchell Amante netted two shorthanded markers in 4:18 vs the Chatham Maroons.
The 6’ 3”, 190lb Barrie native has now registered 7 goals and 5 assists for 12 points in 8 games this season with the Avalanche.
In his final year of GOJHL eligibility, Ben presently sits in a three-way tie for the team scoring lead, one point below team leader Matt Mannella.
The Avalanche are off to a great start this season in the Golden Horseshoe Conference with a 6-1-0-1 record sitting in second place, five points below the 9-0 Caledonia Pro-Fit Corvairs.
