GOJHL West Conference Player Of Month Awards – by C. Scott Holland
The West Conference of the GOJHL has announced their November Player of Month award winners. All three were deserving of the honours and congratulations go to these three who have displayed exceptional abilities during the month of November.
The OFFENSIVE PLAYER AWARD is bestowed upon St. Thomas Stars’ forward Matt McJannett. The sophomore forward played in 10 games and had a tremendous month tabbing seven goals and collecting 12 assists for 19 points. McJannett’s work has been essential to the Stars’ success as they have risen to hold down second-place in the division.
The DEFENSIVE PLAYER AWARD is given to Leamington Flyers interim captain and veteran defenseman J. P. Grineau. The Leamington native has taken on the leadership role in Jacob McGhee’s absence and in 8 games scored 1 goal and added 5 helpers as the Flyers defense continues to shine throughout the current campaign. With his poise and defensive contributions Grineau continues to play a major role in Leamington’s winning ways.
The GOALTENDER AWARD goes to St. Thomas Stars’ netminder Dan Black. Black started and won all 4 games in which he appeared. The St. Thomas resident allowed only five goals against for a 1.00 average while halting 101 of 106 that came his way. Included in those four wins was a shutout. He is a big reason why the Stars have become valid contenders for the West title.
Kudos to these three players on their great performances and the West Conference as well as the GOJHL wishes them the best in their future games and endeavours.
