St. Thomas, Chatham Add Players – by C. Scott Holland
With the trade deadline approaching in a few weeks two West Conference clubs have made moves which they hope will bolster their respective rosters.
The Chatham Maroons made a deal with Fort Erie for 5′ 10″ forward Delcan Conway, who played 16 games for the club and another four in the NOJHL for Kirkland Lake. The Concord, Ohio native is 20 years-old and had tabbed four goals and 9 assists.
Meanwhile, the St. Thomas Stars welcomed forward Lucas Mastroianni from the Dorchester Dolphins (Jr. C). In 27 games with his hometown team, he had 20 goals and 18 assists for 38 points. The 5′ 10″ forward who is 17 years-old has already suited up three games with the Stars.
In addition to Mastroianni, the Stars acquired London native, defenseman Matt McPherson. Matt played 8 games in the first half of the season for the London Nationals but the 6′ tall, 18 year-old has seen limited action playing in 27 Jr. B games in two GOJHL seasons.
Terms of the deals are unknown and the GOJHL wishes these players good luck as they continue with their junior careers.
