As Trade Deadline Approaches Moves Still Being Made – by C. Scott Holland
With the trade deadline fast approaching some teams are making last minute roster moves.
The London Nationals made a deal with the Thorold Blackhawks for 20 year-old defenseman Tyler Sehovic. Sehovic is a defenseman who has shown offensive power as he has 10 goals and 24 assists in 35 games played. Three of the 0goals came on powerplays while he amassed 68 minutes in penalties. He had played previously in the OJHL and NOJHL.
When it comes to trades, it seems that the St. Marys Lincolns and Stratford Cullitons always manage to make a deal. St. Marys defenseman Jack Wieringa heads to Stratford for future considerations. The 17 year-old Woodstock, Ont. naïve has spent two seasons with the Lincolns but has only seen action in 16 contests in 2015/16. The 6′ 3″ rearguard has two goals and three assists and played in the 2014/15 GOJHL Prospects game and was an alternate for the 2015/16 edition. He was drafted by the OHL Niagara Ice Dogs in the fourth round of the 2014 Priority Draft.
The Leamington Flyers sent defenseman Brendan McGhee to the Essex 73’s (Great Lakes Jr. C) and the St. Catharines Falcons have released third year, 19 year-old vet, defenseman Brett Brooker.
