Thursday night in Sarnia the Legionnaires sent 1,236 fans home happy with a 5-1 victory over the Rockets.  Sarnia led 3-1 after one period.  Both teams skated through a scoreless second period before the Legionnaires added a pair of third period insurance goals to secure the victory.

Jon Sanderson scored twice for Sarnia with Greg Hay, Brock Perry and Josh Barraclough adding singles.  Underage rookie defenseman Liam Whittaker replied for the Rockets.

Both teams started their backups in goal.  Will Barber (1-3-1) earned his first win for Sarnia while Josh Diamond (0-2) absorbed the loss for the Rockets.  Rockets Cameron Rombouts and Brady MacDonald had outstanding games for the Rockets.

Sarnia went 1 for 4 on the powerplay while the Rockets were unsuccessful on 4 opportunities.  The Legionnaires outshot the Rockets 28-25 and won 28 of 53 faceoffs (52.8%).

The Rockets have a pair of home weekend games at the WMMC on Saturday, September 30 and Sunday, October 1 when they welcome St. Thomas and the Komoka Kings.  The Rockets will travel back to Sarnia for the second time in two weeks to play the Legionnaires on Thursday, October 5.
