RECORD SETTING NIGHT IN CHATHAM

After a 4-1 win at home on Saturday night over the LaSalle Vipers very little went well for the Rockets in a 14-0 shutout loss to the Maroons in Chatham.  It is a new franchise record for worst shutout on the road for the Rockets eclipsing a 12-0 loss in Chatham on September 14, 2003.  It was the second largest shutout win for the Maroons at home narrowly falling short of a 15-0 win over St. Marys on November 29, 1998.

Chatham led by period scores of 4-0 and 8-0.  Zack Weir took the loss allowing 4 goals on 15 first period shots.  Josh Diamond came on in relief allowing 10 goals on 36 shots over the final two periods.  The Maroons outshot the Rockets 51-32 including a 22-8 advantage in a 6-goal third period

The Maroons went 4 for 7 with the man advantage while the Rockets went 0 for 3.

Former St. Thomas Star Dane Johnstone led the goal barrage with 3 goals.  Underage rookie Jordan Frasca had a pair of goals and 4 assists for a 6-point night while Dakota Bohn, Jake O’Donnell, Josh King, Bryce Yetman, Joshua Maine, Eric Carter, Noah Bushnell, Alexi Saliba and Steven Fowler added singles.  Johnstone and Bohn had 5-point games.

The win moved Chatham into a 6th place tie with the Rockets.  Both clubs trail LaSalle, St. Thomas and Sarnia by 1 point.  Rocket underagers Liam Whittaker and Emmet Pierce were both praised for their effort and tenacity throughout the game.
