KOMOKA OVERCOMES 4-1 DEFICIT, TIES STRATHROY

The Rockets’ winless streak moved to 6 games with a 5-5 double overtime draw with the Komoka Kings at the WMMC on Sunday, October 29 in front of 249 fans.  The Rockets squandered a 4-1 lead as the Kings fought back with a pair of goals in the final 5 minutes of regulation to force overtime.  The Rockets ended a 5-game scoreless drought on the powerplay with 3 goals on 14 shots in 9 opportunities.  Komoka countered with 1 powerplay goal on 8 shots in 3 chances.  Three of Komoka’s goals came with an extra attacker on the ice – one on a delayed penalty call in the second period and on the Kings’ proximity and tying goals at 15:31 and 19:40 of the third period.

The Rockets put up some good numbers in the game outshooting the Kings 45-36 and winning 46 of 85 faceoffs (54.1%).  The Rockets led by period scores of 3-1 and 4-3.

Both clubs had 5 different goal scorers.  Finding the back of the net for the Rockets were Noah Campbell, Joe Capirchio, Michael Wood, Brady MacDonald and Tristan Sedlak.  Kyle Fisher, Spencer Lapointe, Wes Dobbin, Isaac McLean and Andrew Kim replied for the Kings.  Brett Fisher had 4 assists for the Kings while Spencer Allen had 3 assists for the Rockets.  Weir and the Kings’ Reagan Gies shared the tie in goal. Weir preserved the tie stopping King captain Kim with a shorthanded breakaway attempt.  The point earned by the Kings moved them into a eighth place tie with St. Marys, 2 points below the Rockets.
