Vipers’ Manny Silverio Nearing Several Team Records – By C. Scott Holland

With six games left in his regular season junior career, LaSalle Vipers forward Manny Silverio has been hitting his stride.

The 5’9″ Windsor native, who weighs in at 175 lbs., is about to cap his career by setting several new Vipers’ team records sometime during the next six contests.  And that would only add to the laurels he has already achieved. In 2014/15 he was a member of the All-Star Rookie team and played in the Top Prospects game.  The next season he repeated as a player in the Top Prospects contest.

Under the tutelage of coaches Bill Bowler and now John Nelson, he has become one of the GOJHL’s premier players. His numbers have risen every season and this year he has posted 31 goals and 41 assists for 72 points in the 44 regular season games he’s played.  He is the only Vipers player to appear in every game.

Over the course of his career he has played in 194 games, scored 103 times and helped out on another 138 for 241 points.  Those numbers are healthy by anyone’s standard but for the Vipers it means that he currently sits just shy of three team career records.

His 241 points gives him the Vipers all-time points ahead of Dylan Denomme’s 233  and leaves three short of Eric Noel’s 141 career assists. With 103 goals to date, Silverio sits only 4 behind all-time leader Dylan Denomme (2009/10-2013/14).

The one record he can’t touch is games played. From 2011/12 to 2016/17 Nathan Savage suited up for 232 contests.

Not a bad career for a player who has managed to play so steadily throughout his career and one can be certain that when Manny played his first game back in 2012/13 and his second one a season later, he never dreamed of becoming one of the top Vipers’ players of all-time.
